Not something we usually cover here, but it is interesting to note that popular porn performers Jason Ridge (left -now of Ridgeline Films, whatthehell, a little free publicity never hurts…) and Danny Vox ( right – don’t know what he’s doing these days, but I’ll gladly give him my address…and I digress) have both taken on a cause. The performers have given a huge donation to the Harlow Cuadra Defense Fund, with all the proceeds from a scene they shot for BoyBatter.com going to the incarcerated Cuadra’s defense. Ridge commented that he did this because fellow performers should look out for one another, adding that Harlow deserves a fair trial and is desperately in need of money. He said, “This is just my way of trying to help (that everyone is) innocent until proven guilty.” Jason feels very passionate that “this battle is worth fighting for…” The press release states that future projects are in discussion for other performers to join Ridge and Vox to support Cuadra. The scene can currently be viewed at the BoyBatter.com site.

I remember a while back JR going public about fund raising for Harlow’s defense. A few sites picked it up and ran with it for awhile. I even think there were T-Shirts manufactured, but this is the first time in months I’ve ever heard of it again. It would be interesting to learn the how’s, when’s and amounts collected.
I’ve basically stayed away from this story. Just way too much speculation and hate going around for me. Speaking of hate, look at the time! I have a very special post in production to work on. Gotta run! lol

Budd-
I seem to recall a few posts in various and sordid places about raising money for the Harlow defense. I don’t remember JR doing so, but that doesn’t mean that he didn’t.
I have written little about the case…too much drama, too many out there writing about it with their own agendas, some asking for money that probably would have been deposited in their Revere Credit Union accounts, not that I know of anyone like that. No siree.

Don’t make me come over there and smack you with a Nancy Grace back-hand Mister!

I remember – back, much earlier, a photo of Jason Ridge and a friend wearing H/C t-shirts and then mentioning on Jason C. that they were just given to him – that was it. I do not remember him fundraising. But He did make supportive comments at first- then kind of fell silent on the subject.
Ironically, this was the very beginning- I felt too that Harlow needed support and was trying to raise funds for H. I tried to make contact with J.R. 2x- with a proposal for raising funds for H/C but recieved no response.

In response to some comments made on the Harlow and Joe On Trial blog and others, let me clarify that the press release about Jason R. did not come from Jason himself; however, he did confirm to me that what appeared in the PR was true, and Jason Sechrest also commented (to me) on it, indicating also that it was true. The fact that I have not seen it elsewhere also made me wonder, although I also realize that, aside from Jason S., many columnists in the gay porn industry are pretty much staying away from the case, what with wackos using it for their own agendas. Jason Ridge told me this morning that the release was sent only to me (like I really care about exclusives!), and he is now traveling and will be sending it to others shortly.

Guess not!!! I sent it to other people even if the person who originally released the press release gave it to you. If and when I write to you or anyone else it should remain private ..thank you.

Jason -
I’m not sure just what you are referring to. Perhaps you’d care to explain.
January 11, 2008 at 4:53 pm |
Umm… since when did press releases become private? I’ve always been under the impression that PR’s were sent out to get… uh… press?
January 11, 2008 at 5:13 pm |
I think Jason was referring to his own reply to my email to him, asking him to confirm that the original email (not sent by him personally) was legit. I didn’t see anything in his response that could be considered “off the record,” but apparently, I’m not supposed to quote him on anything he says. This isn’t the first run-in I’ve had with Jason over something silly. I thought everything had been settled, but I guess not.
January 11, 2008 at 10:41 pm |
Everything is settled , no problems at all but if you have no relevance or don’t care or give a crap about firsts, or exclusives then now we all know. I was just taken out of context that’s all. When i spoke to you it wasn’t the PR but you just wanted me to confirm if it was true or not in which I stated it was, then you asked why me first, so I guess It won’t be you first. I didn’t send it to you first someone else did and said if it was alright to send it to you and I said sure I have nothing against you, and as for laying low… I was plotting my attact and raising money and giving a lot of my own money for Harlow as I watched every media outlet go on an onslaught attact. You have the nasty pedifiles defending Brent Corrigan then you had me in a few other to say wait this was all a set up,, someone has put blame on Harlow and why not the other person in question but then you had cowards not even mention a defense fund or have taken both sides. This will be the last conversation I will have about this since you have stated that you don’t care if you get info first or last then you will get your wish, Once again nothing against you but the other media outlets are more objective in their reporting and are glad to welcome news about the industry wheather it is popular or not. I speak my mind, Too bad others don’t , Everything is good on my end

Jason-
Not to carry this on any further than need be but, just to clarify, I never asked you WHY I was first. I was saying that I don’t CARE if I am first. Never have, never will. I asked you if the PR was legit because, as you may know, there are some loonies out there who have claimed to be raising $ for Cuadra’s defense for their own agenda. I don’t care if you raise money for Harlow or not; that was not the point. I simply wanted to know if the PR was true. You are a popular public figure, and, if it was true, was news. As far as the “nasty pedifiles (sp)” go, I have no idea what you’re talking about, and if I was not “objective,” I would not have approved your comments here to begin with. On that note, enough of this, and you are more than welcome to post here.

WHY DO HALF OF THE COMMENTS ON THIS SITE SEEM TO COME FROM ONE PERSON USING MANY NAMES AMD IMPERSONATING PEOPLE?
February 3, 2008 at 11:34 am |
Rick-
Huh? For one thing, I’m not impersonating anybody, and I have five posts on here. BuddFoxx has 2 posts. I know who he is. Jason Ridge is…well, Jason Ridge. There is one post each from VJ and PC. And one post from you.
WHen posts come in for approval, I check the identities and the IP addresses, and delete the ones from the “gentleman” known to haunt the forums and blogs under various names from his “crappy dial-up.” So, again I respectfully ask, “Huh?”

We are losing sight here. Mr. Ridge can support anybody and any legal cause that that suits him.
I do not happen to agree with him, but I respect his right to speak out on the subject. If he is good at fund raising, it would be nice to imagine him raising funds for a less controversial cause in the future.
