So…just what is going on with Mason Wyler? I received several reader’s emails about a posting that appeared on Wyler’s website, where he said he was raped by a “decorated Iraq war Army captain and his friends.” No newspaper articles could be found concerning the alleged rape, though the item Mason posted was in the form of an article, supposedly written just hours after being released from the hospital. I could find no mention of it on any other porn journalists’ website until this morning, when Jason Sechrest had something up on his blog. Readers are asking, was it a promotional stunt, a Wyler fantasy, or did it, horror of horrors, really happen? The accompanying photos on Wyler’s site would indicate this. Jason Sechrest is inclined to believe it, saying, “…it became evident, to me at least, that Wyler’s story was nothing short of the truth and that he, sadly, had been the victim of a heinous crime — the kind that takes people a lifetime to get over.” DeWayne in San Diego also has an item on his blog page. Wyler said in a later posting that he understands why some might think the story might be his “fantasy,” but adds, “I’ll admit that I am a slut who has some pretty sick fantasies at times, but I never wanted this to become a reality.” Our sympathies go out to Mason for this horrendous atrocity.
UPDATE: There continues to be considerable doubt or, at the very least, serious questions, among industry professionals as to the veracity of Wyler’s claims.

Yes, this news is horrendous and especially given the police attitude that any man, let alone a gay one, can be raped. Every stereotype is presented. That is a serious injury to Mason’s left eye. Not some “love tap.”
Men can be raped and are. And do take note guys of something Mason states at least 3 different times regarding GHB which is a clear liquid and usually dropped into an unsuspecting victim’s drink for mellow compliance, lack of resistence, and easier suggestion from the victimizer using the GHB. Mason says he was given a GHB enema and that means quicker absorption throughout the body.
Any man or woman can fantasize about some sexual thing, but whether we want done what we fantasize is another matter entirely. Rape is not a date; not love or lovemaking; it is not even sex in the conventional meaning–it is a brutal invasive crime of the person of the victim–a major felony. Rape is a crime of power, domination, control, humiliation, and brutalization of the victim and the victim can end up dead.
I hope Mason makes a monumental noise onto the Nations about this crime against his person and the thoroughly sloppy, unprofessional conduct and investigation of this crime.
I wish Mason Wyler Godspeed and a thorough recovery and an effective, knowledgeable Rape Crisis Counselor.

QueerClick has done some digging into the alleged screen shots of his police report Mr. Wyler has posted on his blog. In short, we do not believe it is real. More info at QC.

I hope to God this is fake. Violence against gay men should always be reported, but not necessarily to the police, because they usually don’t give a FUCK. I was attacked and stabbed outside a popular L.A country music nightclub back in 1991 and the police did NOTHING. They assumed it was either a trick that went bad or a drug deal gone sour. The only people who tried to get the police involved were my parents and the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center. I’m glad I survived, but the attack would have been made a bigger deal ,if I had been killed-a direct quote from a LAPD insider.
